Hillary's statement on FISA
Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 01:52:49 PM PDT
NOTE: I am an Internet Adviser to Hillary
I wanted to share a statement Hillary just put out on her FISA 'no' vote:
"One of the great challenges before us as a nation is remaining steadfast in our fight against terrorism while preserving our commitment to the rule of law and individual liberty. As a senator from New York on September 11, I understand the importance of taking any and all necessary steps to protect our nation from those who would do us harm. I believe strongly that we must modernize our surveillance laws in order to provide intelligence professionals the tools needed to fight terrorism and make our country more secure. However, any surveillance program must contain safeguards to protect the rights of Americans against abuse, and to preserve clear lines of oversight and accountability over this administration. I applaud the efforts of my colleagues who negotiated this legislation, and I respect my colleagues who reached a different conclusion on today's vote. I do so because this is a difficult issue. Nonetheless, I could not vote for the legislation in its current form.
Transcript of Hillary's Speech (and a personal thanks)

I joined Hillary's team as a blog adviser in June of 2006 and I've been her Internet Director for the duration of the campaign. I’ve posted here regularly during this election and I thank you and the entire progressive blogosphere for making your voices heard and for your important role in furthering progressive goals.
I’ve always felt honored to represent Hillary online and I’m proud to have worked with an exceptional Internet team at her campaign. I’m also thrilled to see the creative and innovative use of the Internet by Senator Obama. Since my time at the Kerry-Edwards campaign, I've believed that this medium is a democratizing force that will transform politics, and in the coming months, online activists will play a pivotal part in electing Barack Obama president. I hope that all of Hillary’s online supporters, the heart and soul of her campaign, join me in working enthusiastically to achieve that historic goal. As Hillary said, this election is a turning point, and together there's nothing we can't accomplish.
How does this help Hillary in the general election?

NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
I've seen a number of blog posts criticizing Hillary for drawing a contrast on national security with Sen. Obama. The claim is that by suggesting that she and Sen. McCain cross the commander-in-chief threshold and that Sen. Obama should be asked about it, Hillary is undercutting Sen. Obama's prospects in a general election were he to become the nominee.
Every Voter Should Hear This Phone Call
Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 08:03:11 AM PDT
NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
In the closing hours before the March 4th elections, I wanted to share an amazing phone call with you. It comes on the heels of a new tracking poll showing Hillary doing better than Sen. Obama against John McCain - as well as public polls that show Hillary stronger against Sen. McCain in crucial swing states like Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
As Hillary has said, all Democrats (and all Americans) should be proud of the historic campaign Democrats have run this cycle and of our great candidates. But no matter who we support, as Dems we can all agree that winning in November and taking back the White House is our imperative. And one thing is increasingly obvious: winning means defeating John McCain - the likely Republican nominee.
UPDATE: Hillary's At $9 Million Online Since Tuesday
Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 07:03:35 PM PDT
Note: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
I wanted to give you an update on the campaign's fundraising over the past 72 hours.
The day after Super Tuesday, we set a goal of $3 million in 3 days, but broke through that target in less than 24 hours, raising over $4 million in the first day.
We then raised the goal to $6 million in 72 hours and quickly surpassed that.
As of this writing, since Super Tuesday, over 90,000 supporters have donated more than $9 million online.
We've now set a goal of $10 million and we are extremely gratified by the tremendous outpouring of support.
Hillary: "John is one of the greatest champions the American people could ask for"
Wed Jan 30, 2008 at 09:23:12 AM PDT
NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
I wanted to share what Hillary just said about John and Elizabeth Edwards:
"John Edwards ended his campaign today in the same way he started it - by standing with the people who are too often left behind and nearly always left out of our national debate.
Hillary's Plan to Jumpstart the Economy
Thu Jan 24, 2008 at 09:25:36 AM PDT
NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
Hillary just delivered a major speech on the economy. This was posted on our website:
Just days before the State of the Union Address, Hillary Clinton urged the current administration to take immediate action to jumpstart the ailing economy. She outlined the solutions that can be taken now to fix the mortgage crisis and get more money in the pockets of Americans who need it the most. She also provided a vision of how she would lead the country to robust economic growth as President.
Daily Kos: The Blog of Ideas Over the Last 4-5 Years
Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 04:25:33 PM PDT
NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
"I think it’s fair to say that Daily Kos was the blog of ideas for a pretty long chunk of time there over the last 5-6 years in the sense that it was challenging conventional wisdom."
Is that a compliment? Or a criticism?
Without a clear qualifier that the GOP's ideas were bad, Sen. Obama's comment to the Reno Gazette Journal Ed Board that the Republicans were the "party of ideas" who "challenged conventional wisdom" comes across as complimentary of the GOP.
Factcheck: President Clinton on Sen. Obama's record
Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 05:11:04 PM PDT
NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
I wanted to alert readers to an item just posted on our campaign's Fact Hub:
Factcheck: President Clinton on Sen. Obama's record
During today’s taping of Good Morning America, Sen. Obama accused President Clinton of making factually inaccurate statements.
‘[The Former President] has taken his advocacy on behalf of his wife to a level that I think is pretty troubling. He continues to make statements that are not supported by the facts. Whether it's about my record of opposition to the war in Iraq or our approach to organizing in Las Vegas. This has become a habit and one of the things that we're gonna have to do is to directly confront Bill Clinton when he's making statements that are not factually accurate.' [Good Morning America, taped 1/20/08]
FACT: What Hillary Really Said About Reagan
Fri Jan 18, 2008 at 06:42:12 PM PDT
NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director.
This was posted on our Fact Hub:
Bad Oppo Alert! Hillary Did Not List Ronald Reagan As Favorite President
In an effort to divert attention from Senator Obama’s comments about President Reagan and his assertion that the GOP has been the "party of ideas," the Obama campaign circulated an item this evening from the Salmon Press in New Hampshire that asserts that Senator Clinton listed the former President as one of her favorite presidents. In fact, Senator Clinton only complimented President Reagan’s communications skills – an attribute of his that has been widely praised by Americans of all ideological stripes – and did not list him as one of her favorite presidents. She also noted that she respected George H.W. Bush.

The Hillary I Know (Video + New Website)
Mon Dec 17, 2007 at 06:06:05 AM PDT
I joined Hillary's team in June of 2006. One of the things that struck me as soon as I came on board is the number of people whose lives have been directly touched by Hillary and the tremendous admiration and affection they express for her.
Today, our campaign is unveiling a new website that tells the stories of those who know Hillary best.

In their endorsement editorial, the Salmon Press highlighted the "combination of her proven track record and positive vision for America" adding "she’s an engaging personality able to unite people behind a common cause regardless of their political affiliations."

Hillary to Bush: No Permanent Bases in Iraq
Tue Nov 27, 2007 at 12:05:27 PM PDT
NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
I wanted to share this press release and letter from Hillary:
Washington, DC – Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton called on President Bush today to clarify the recently signed Declaration of Principles for a Long-Term Relationship of Cooperation and Friendship Between the Republic of Iraq and the United States of America to confirm that the United States does not plan to place any permanent bases within Iraq and instead plans to begin the phased redeployment of U.S. troops. In a letter to the President, Senator Clinton expressed great concern that the Declaration of Principles did not explicitly indicate that the United States will not seek and will not maintain permanent military bases in Iraq, despite the clear will of Congress and the American people.
"The President must make it crystal clear that the United States will not maintain permanent bases in Iraq," Senator Clinton said. "They would damage U.S. interests in Iraq and the broader region, and I will continue to strongly oppose them."
Hillary's Statement on Saudi Rape Case Court Ruling
Wed Nov 21, 2007 at 08:03:23 AM PDT
NOTE: I am the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
I wanted to share Hillary's statement on the news from Saudi Arabia that a gang rape victim was sentenced to 200 lashes:
"In 1995, I went to Beijing and said, 'It is time for us to say here in Beijing, and for the world to hear, that it is no longer acceptable to discuss women's rights as separate from human rights.' We have made some progress since then. But we have not made enough. The latest example is the punishment of 200 lashes that a Saudi Arabian court has given to a victim -- the victim -- of a gang rape. This is an outrage. The Bush administration has refused to condemn the sentence and said it will not protest an internal Saudi decision. I urge President Bush to call on King Abdullah to cancel the ruling and drop all charges against this woman. As President I will once again make human rights an American priority around the world."
UPDATED: Clinton Campaign's Response to Obama on Novak Blind Item
Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 11:03:39 AM PDT
NOTE: I am the Clinton campaign's Internet Director
Earlier today, the Obama campaign released a statement attacking Hillary over a blind item published by Robert Novak. Novak writes, "Agents of Sen. Hillary Clinton are spreading the word in Democratic circles that she has scandalous information about her principal opponent for the party's presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, but has decided not to use it. The nature of the alleged scandal was not disclosed." As you'll see in the statement below, the Clinton campaign has no idea what Novak's item is about and rejects it totally.
Hillary to Republicans: "Lay off Graeme Frost"
Wed Oct 10, 2007 at 07:40:53 PM PDT
I'm Hillary's Internet Director. I just received a rough, partial transcript of Hillary's remarks about Graeme Frost and wanted to share them with you. I'll post the full transcript as soon as it's available.
HILLARY: "It pains me that in our country we have 9 million children without health insurance and now we have a President who doesn't think they need health insurance. I thought I'd seen the depth of political partisanship and mean spiritedness but the Republicans and their right wing allies have really taken the cake this time.
There was a young boy who was 12 years old named Graeme Frost. He was in a bad car accident and he didn't have health insurance but thankfully he had a program that I helped start in 1997 with Ted Kennedy and others called SCHIP. So Graeme was able to get health care, good health care, that made a tremendous difference in the outcome of his injuries. So when the President vetoed the extension of SCHIP, Graeme and his family stepped forward to illustrate why it was so important....
